Choosing the Right Level
If you have questions about what swimming activity may be the most appropriate for your swimmer, please read on. We've created a few guidelines to assist you. If you still have questions after reading this, please feel free to approach any of our coaches for additional information.
Kenmont Tsunami - the swim team
- Can swim at least 25 yards freestyle and backstroke unassisted.
- Can tread water for at lest 30-60 seconds unassisted.
- Comfortable in the water for extended periods of time.
- Willing to participate in practice and meets.
- Shows desire to learn breaststroke, butterfly, flip turns, and other advanced swimming techniques.
Team Nami - the pre-team
- Can swim 12 - 15 yard unassisted on back OR front (or both).
- Can float on front OR back for at least 10 - 15 seconds unassisted.
- Comfortable or gaining confidence about being in the water.
- Is willing to participate in practice (and possibly interested in moving into the swim team some day).
Swim Lessons
- Beginning swimmers who need to learn the basics of doggy paddle, backstroke, freestyle, floating, etc.
- Swimmers who are scared or apprehensive of the water benefit from private or small group lessons.
- Advanced swimmers who are struggling with a specific technique benefit from private lessons too.
